WhatApp Finally Enabled Fingerprints Unlock For Android Users.

Earlier this year, WhatsApp added an extra layer of privacy for iOS users when it enabled support for Touch ID and Face ID.

Today, WhatsApp announced Fingerprint Lock for Android Users.

Now, WhatsApp users can unlock the app with their fingerprint on Android, too.

You'll have to enable the feature in settings and confirm your fingerprint before you use it.

WhatsApp didn't say if or when it will add a face unlock feature to its Android app.

So go to playstore get the latest updates and secure your WhatsApp chats with your fingerprints now.

WhatsApp fingerprint lock support is finally rolling out on Android, expanding the availability of this feature to all users.

This new feature allows you to secure your WhatsApp chats using your fingerprint, adding an extra layer of security in addition to your lockscreen.

WhatsApp had rolled out fingerprint lock support back in August this year, but the feature was available only on the beta version.

Today, WhatsApp fingerprint lock support has been expanded to all Android and IOS users.

How to enable WhatsApp fingerprint lock
Make sure you have updated to the latest version of WhatsApp beta for Android.

The latest version in the Play Store is 2.19.308 (stable) and 2.19.310 (beta).

Once you have the latest update installed, follow these simple steps to enable WhatsApp fingerprint lock feature on your device.

Open WhatsApp Settings menu.
Go to Account -> Privacy -> Fingerprint lock and switch the toggle.

Here, once you confirm your fingerprint, you can choose to automatically lock WhatsApp immediately, after 1 minute or after 30 minutes.

Additionally, you can also choose to show or hide message contents in notifications.

If you switch the toggle to hide content, you will not be able to read messages on the lockscreen or in the notifications.

There’s no finer control in this regard yet.

If you have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your Android smartphone but still don’t see the feature enabled, backup your messages and reinstall WhatsApp.

We tried this and the feature was enabled upon reinstallation.

If your device has a fingerprint lock feature for apps, you will want to turn it off.

While the WhatsApp fingerprint lock feature works even if you leave the system fingerprint app lock enabled, you will have to authenticate the unlock twice.
