Burna Boy wins BET ‘Best International Act’ Award 2019 |
Nigeria topmost Afro-fusion music singer and multi Award winner, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy emerged winner of the Best International Act award at the 2019 edition of BET Awards held on Sunday night.
BET Award 2019 edition which celebrates black people in film, music and arts, to honour the outstanding achievements of international artists every year, was held at the Microsoft Theatre in California.
This year 2019 Edition, Burna Boy was nominated alongside Mr Eazi (Nigeria),Teni (Nigeria), Giggs (UK), Dosseh (France), Dave (UK), AKA (South Africa) and Aya Nakamura (France).
Burna Boy joins Wizkid, 2baba, Davido, D’banj and Iceprince as winners of the award from Nigeria.
Following the success of the winner Bet Award 2019 Edition ‘On the Low’ singer began the musical year with hefty, fan-favourite tunes including ‘Dangote’ and ‘Killin Dem’ featuring Zlatan.
This follows his quick rise to stardom in 2018 which made him one of the top five stars of the year. The singer performed at Coachella in April.
The award was received by Burna Boy’s mum, Bose Ogulu, who also doubles as his manager.

“Every black person should please remember that you were Africans before you were anything else”, she said.
Sharing thoughts on Burna’s mom Bose Ogulu's speech while receiving the award on behalf of her son Burna Boy, prolific music/TV director and filmmaker, Kemi Adetiba said; “Burna Boy must be so proud of his mom.
Every time she’s served an opportunity to represent him, she never disappoints. She is always extremely articulate, and her words concise yet impactful leaving a lasting impression in the minds of whoever has just watched and listen to her words.”
